I shot this popular image in Antarctica by predicting/guessing where the penguin will surface and starting to shoot before it came out of the water. This behavior is called “porpoising” and is how penguins catch a breath and see where they are going while swimming fast. And they really do fly – just underwater, using those small but powerful wings.
Photographs are printed on archival Lustre paper with Tim Laman’s signature digitally printed into the white border, as seen in the preview.
